Parents' Night Out
Pacific Science Center now offers a series of Parents' Night Out events all year round. Spend a night out (or in!) while your child enjoys private, after-hours exploration of our exhibit halls, as well as an IMAX film, planetarium presentation or laser light show. Your child will enjoy a build-your-own nacho bar for dinner and a light snack later in the evening.
Participants will be supervised in age groups by our outstanding and experienced staff all evening. When you come back for pick-up, be prepared for enthusiastic stories about the evening's activities.
Program details:
- Grades: K-6.
- Drop-off: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
- Pick-up: 10-11 p.m.
- Fee: $40 per child, or $30 per child for Pacific Science Center members.
- Transfer/Cancellation Policy: There will be a $10 processing fee per child for transfers to another Parents' Night Out date. There are no refunds for Parents' Night Out.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PARENTS' NIGHT OUT EVENTS.
Please Note: Our registration process for Parents' Night Out is changing! Beginning with the July event, all registrations will be made online. Because your child's medical information and liability release will now be attached to your child's registration, we are no longer able to register Parents' Night Out by phone. Please have the following available when you register:
- Emergency contact name and phone.
- Child's insurance information.
- Child's medications/dosages/prescribing physician's name.

June 22, 2013: The Big Storm - REGISTER NOW
Are you ready for The Big Storm? Discover wet and windy weather by seeing a show on Pacific Science Center's Science on a Sphere. Take a look into the sky and explore how much water a cloud can hold and what happens when they get too full! Make your very own rain gauge and measure how much rain falls where you live. We'll end our evening by chilling out with some liquid nitrogen ice cream. This is a storm you don't want to miss.
July 13, 2013: Body Movin' - REGISTER NOW
Put your sneakers on and get ready for a night of physical fun! Start the night by clipping on a pedometer to see how many steps you take throughout the evening. Team up with your group to solve the clues in a fitness scavenger hunt. Enjoy a private laser show and healthy treat, then learn how your skeletal system keeps you moving and create your own hand skeleton model. Get ready to check your heart rate and see how it changes when you get moving.
August 17,2013: Wonders of Water - REGISTER NOW
Discover the wonders of water! Design, build, and test your own water rocket and face the challenge of keeping your balloon intact during the water balloon drop! Enjoy the marvels of H2O with various demonstrations including a Danger Science Stage Show and Liquid Nitrogen ice-cream.
September 21, 2013: Brainiacs - REGISTER NOW
It's hands-on, minds-on! Learn about the different parts of your brain and central nervous system. Build a neuron, think outside the box with our mind-bending games, and touch a real brain! Don't think twice! Between the mind-boggling laser show and liquid nitrogen ice cream, there'll be so much to do, it will blow your mind!
October 19, 2013: Whimsical Wizards - REGISTER NOW
Join us for a magical evening of science. We'll use our scientific powers to create our very own galaxy gak and make paper change color right before your eyes. Create your own density potion by stacking seven liquids on top of one another. Be enchanted by the Physics of Bubbles Live Science Stage Show and be blown away as we make Liquid Nitrogen ice cream.
November 23, 2013: Germ Busters! - REGISTER NOW
Who are you going to call? GERM BUSTERS! Meet our 'giant microbes'--both good and bad--and learn about their awesome powers. Explore the difference between bacteria and viruses; protect yourself from the crazy glitter disease; and combat drug-resistant superbugs. Wash up for a life science stage show and liquid nitrogen ice-cream, because tonight is a micro-scale night with macro-sized fun!
December 14, 2013: Sugar Smarts - REGISTER NOW
How much sugar can you absorb in your bloodstream? Check your sweet smarts to figure out what foods have the most sugar content. You may be surprised! Uncover how sugar can make electricity in your mouth! Round out the night with an Amazing Air live science stage show and by deciding how much sugar to mix into our liquid nitrogen ice cream!
